Liverpool's Star Offers Statement to Squad, Says Curtis Jones

The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that the Egyptian forward apologised to the group of players in the wake of the controversy from his televised remarks.

What Happened

Salah was left out from a vital match after making accusations and suggesting his connection to the head coach had soured.

“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I'm sorry.’”

The head coach has refused to disclose on whether he got an explanation from the veteran striker.

Moving Forward

The player stated that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “He was his usual self, his demeanour was positive and we all treated him normally,” Jones added.

He also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “I get that there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”

Team Form

Liverpool's form have been impressive in the period after the interview fallout. The player is convinced the forward's comments were never meant to destabilise the squad.

“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a good place,” he finished. “We’re past that now and we’re building chemistry, performing and on a positive run.”
